What I Did On My Very First Vacation. Timken On The Beach part 1

We had not been on a vacation since before we started to foster Timken back in Oct 2013! It was time and so we made plans for the OR coast, our favorite place to go that we can bring dogs and not have to drive too far.

Tim's past life before he came into foster care, (and we ended up not being able to live without him and decided to make him one of our furkids), had not been a life that afforded him the pleasure of vacationing with a family. So this was something we were very happy to introduce him to. He also had never been to a beach so everything was new and he did great!

We have 5 dogs but this trip was a 3 dog trip. Jenny, Skip, and Tim accompanied us and Birdie and Liza got to stay with their petsitter family who dotes on them and adores them, giving them walks, cuddles, and to sleep in bed with them too. They didn't miss a beat and when we came to pick them up after our trip they were relaxed and happy, even giving their second family lots of good bye kisses and wiggles.

Cannon Beach the very first day...... what a welcome sight.

Tim's first time on the beach, he was a bit nervous and needed some reassurance and to be picked up from time to time but....

... he also started to kick up his heels and thought this beach thing was kind of neat! Jenny loves to walk anywhere anytime, so she was all good.

With Jenny's hearing and eyesight failing we kept her leashed a lot more than usual. If she decided something smelled good in the distance she would be off like a shot and no real way to call her back anymore and she can't see well enough to know who HER people are. She did great on the leash though.

Such a sweet happy girl.

Tim was really getting the hang of things and he was very good at staying with us, he doesn't let us out of his sight.

Kickin' up their heels! Love this.

Even Skip decided to do some zoomies and Tim was following suit. This was exactly what we wanted for Tim, to be a normal dog, doing what all dogs should get a chance to do.

Settling in to a walking rhythm...three cuties.

Ahhhh love to see this, brings tears to my eyes.

Tim says, "mom and dad this is so fun, I hope we can do this again"

There is much more to share about Tim's first vacation, please check back to see what other adventures we all had.
