Landau is The First Foster Dog of 2013!

We have named our next foster doggie Landau and we eagerly await his arrival, and are happy to say he will be the first of three foster dogs who will be arriving in January of 2013!

Here is Landau in the outdoor shelter he had been in.

This is Landau in his safe and warm temp foster home.

Where did we come up with the name Landau?

Landau, when used in referencing an automobile generally means a simulated convertible. It is originally a coach-building term see Landau (carriage)

In the 1920s and 1930s, especially in the United States the term "landau" became used for a simulated convertible automobile, in which a fixed roof of a Sedan with solid rear quarters was covered with fabric or leather and fitted with side landau bars to make it appear like a convertible top. This became the commonly accepted definition of "landau" in North American usage thereafter.

Then in 1950 Nash Motors introduced the Rambler Airflyte a new compact car and Landau was it's convertible model. So CUTE!

Eventually the term landau was used again to describe those cars that were being designed with faux convertible tops like this classic 1967 Ford Thunderbird. As you can see it looks like it could be a convertible but it really isn't.
