Landau and Skip Play!

People have this misconception that male dogs are more aggressive in their play than female dogs or that they are going to be more alpha than a female. We have 2 male dogs and 3 females and I can tell you the females are much more alpha than the males. Birdie who was playing with Landau in a previous post has a much tougher play style than Skip who is playing in this post with Landau. The pictures make it look like they are really going at each other but as you will see in the video taken during the same play session it was all theatrics and very quiet too. Again the video is PG-13 and Skip is not one to normally mount other dogs. I am wondering if the fact that Landau has been recently neutered is the reason both Skip and Birdie to have added in the mounting moves on Landau. As you can see Landau is not bothered by it and is just such a sweet boy with amazing dog skills!

In general ratties have off buttons, one of the wonderful qualities of rat terriers. The first couple of days Landau was not sure where "his spot" was so he tried two options one afternoon while foster mom was yet again on the computer doing her stuff for New Rattitude.

This bed is right next to my computer, he was liking to keep his eye on me.

He tried this Yapbed on for size and looks pretty cute in it too!

Landau Loves the Snow!

Just a short clip of Landau most likely in his first snow! We had a slight 1/2" and he was clearly enjoying it trying to get Birdie to play with him but as you will see she had other things that needed to get done. This could be added to the blooper reel. :)

Landau's Tail's Awaggin'

I love that Landau has a full tail because he can show how happy he is all the time! He was so cute walking up stairs after me, tail wagging the whole way. I love this little dude. I was glad my camera could catch the blur of his tail wagging. :)

Louie aka Gauge Update!

As a foster mom I always love to get updates on my past foster dogs. When I opened my inbox late last night to check on things one last time before bed I got this pleasant surprise! Pictures of Louie playing in the snow! This is so touching to me because when his adopter first took him home he was a bit under-confident and also was a bit slow to warm to new people. Louie's dad was not worried about this at all and he gave him all the space he needed to bond with him. Not only does Louie get to go fishing on the boat with his dad, but he also gets to play in the snow! He looks so happy and grown up! We are so happy for them both.

Birdie our youngest female, who also is queen, well she would like all the dogs to think so anyhow, really likes to play with Landau. What we are beginning to figure out is that she just plain likes the male foster dogs! Remember Birdie and Mingus?  How about Birdie and Oskar? I guess Birdie believes in the lyric "Love the one your with". LOL

Landau Follows His Nose

Landau is a 14 pound Teddy Rat Terrier. We joke that we should have named him Tank because he is so stocky and solid. Landau came from Delano, CA and had been in an outdoor kennel for a couple of months! I understand this kennel did not have shelter not even a dog house. We are so thankful to Lynn our NR volunteer who finds these dogs in need and then temps them for us until they can get onto the ground transport to make their way to OR and WA foster homes. We are so happy to offer him a safe place to stay while he awaits his forever home where he will make someone a very wonderful and congenial companion. We decided Landau needed to get out even though he had that long transport. So we took him and his fursiblings to get out in the woods and be a dog. He LOVED it. His paws hit the ground and he began seeking and searching for every smell and sight he could find. It was really cute because he was all over the board. Then he would come back and walk by my husband's side for a bit or just come to check in and get a little pet, then out again he would go sniffing, finding trails left by bunnies and just hanging out with the pack.

We love his curly tail, which he wags all the time!

We walked about 5 miles and he could have gone more but was quiet as a mouse with his bully stick in his crate on the ride back home.
