Nash and Sierra Toss the Kitty

It's not what you think! I'm not talking about a real kitty, but this UpCountry kitty that has been laying around the house for over a year. One day Sierra decided she loved to play with Kitty and now she and Nash both love to run aroung with, toss in the air, and shake poor kitty. I got a few videos to share!

Kitty

On a breezy day Sierra had carried Kitty out to play, then Nash absconded with Kitty and she was happy to give him a turn.

In this next video, I love how Nash throws Kitty in the air and even tosses kitty so he can pounce on her. You can also hear Skip in the back ground, he is desperately wanting me to stop filming silly foster dogs and throw his ball for him :)

Ahhhh you will see Skip got dad to throw the ball in the back ground. Also there must have been a private plane just above that was loud! I love the end on this clip where Nash is on his back playing....tooo cute!

Nash Goes On A Field Trip!

Recently I have started taking my mother and father in-law to the Seattle school district Science Material Center, a couple of times a month, where they have been volunteering for 20 years. Today Nash got to go along and he had a really good day!

Oh you are helping to test a lot of little motors to make sure they work for the motors science kit!

This Humdinger was fashioned by foster grandad, it makes fun noises and the kids love to experiment with it.

Don't even say it! I had to do it, I had to show Wuppers that I owned this cart.....oops...sorry....

I got to chew on a bully stick while everyone ate their lunch. It was a fun day today going on a field trip.

Sierra and Nash Got To Meet Some Old Friends of Ours!

What a wonderful day for a reunion. It wasn't the annual New Rattitude PNW Rattiefest, that is coming at the end of July (stay tuned for more details), but there was still a reunion nonetheless! We attended a Rat Terriers of Seattle Meetup today and a couple of our past foster dogs and their people met us there. What a treat! There were other WA foster parent's past foster dogs too and so it ended up being an impromptu rattie reunion. What could be better? Here are a few pictures from today's adventure.

Does this girl look familiar? No....it's not Sierra! But it is Sierra's real life sister! Her name was Sonya in foster care and now she is Toula.

Here is our past foster boy, Hudson, it took him a few minutes to recognize us as it has been 4 months since we have seen him, but once he realized we smelled familiar he was all about getting pets and giving kisses.

Nash was having a blast and he was such a good boy. This is his first dog park experience I would guess and he had such a great time. Here he is exhibiting that ol' doggie handshake.

On the left is Besoliel, she is available for adoption, and in the front is Landau (now Yoshi) another old friend and foster dog come to visit with his dad and human brother. What a wonderful life it is with ratties in it. Such a treat to know our foster dogs are healthy and happy in their forever homes.

Friday night SplashDog in Edmonds, WA had a ribbon cutting and get together to celebrate some new services they will be offering along with extended hours and days. We had kept J Linn, Sierra's swim therapist, up to date on all of Sierra's progress with her post op leg since doing her swim therapy, but she had not seen her in the flesh walking on all fours.

So we headed down to Edmonds on a beautiful evening and there we met lots of nice people and nice dogs! Sierra was very cautious with the humans, and yes she was a bit nervous, but she did super with the dogs! Big and small dogs alike.

I did not bring my camera as I knew Sierra would be nervous and I just wanted to be able to be there for her without trying to photograph her too. But there was a nice lady there who had a wonderful camera with a zooooom lens and she was able to capture some beautiful shots of Sierra from a distance and then she emailed us the pictures to share on my blog! The credit for these pictures goes to Gretchen at Triple Dog Pet Services! Gretchen works around the Seattle area including SplashDog! Nash and Butterfly

Nash found him self chasing Butterfly the other day and I happened to have my camera! I was hoping he wouldn't catch it as I wanted Butterfly to live. It worked out for Butterfly but he/she sure gave Nash a run for his money!

Nash saw Butterfly land in the rose, but he thought the rose petals were Butterfly so he spent quite a bit of time jumping up and pulling petals down, only to find they were not Butterfly!

Nash had shredded the petals he pulled down, and Butterfly was long gone, off to tease another unsuspecting terrier. lol

Sierra Making Even More Progress!

Our foster girl Sierra is really using her post-op leg more and more. She has been making steady progress and walks around the house and yard now just using all 4 legs. When we see her do this we always say "look look Sierra is using all 4 legs to walk!". We are just so used to her other stride where she is only using three legs that it sometimes doesn't even look like Sierra when we see her walking by. Her body structure is changing too as her muscles develop and she is also looking more balanced from behind.

Sierra has really taken to her prey drive side too lately and has discovered birds. She doesn't really pay much attention to them around our yard, but when we are out in the woods walking or at a park where there are birds she is like a prey drive machine!  It is amazing to see how turned on she gets when she thinks she might be able to rustle one up out of the bushes. We have to be careful because with her using four legs now she is extra strong when she wants to pull us over to check something out. Silly rattie girl.

Sierra has decided that most toys now are fun to shake and play with too and so she plays by herself often. She also plays with Nash our other foster dog and when they play together it gives her more chance to work that post-op leg. There is no stopping Sierra, she is just beginning to be all the rattie she can be and we are enjoying every minute of her unfolding.

I used my zoom to capture Sierra in this pic but as you can tell, she was on to me.....silliest girl ever!

Here is a picture of Sierra and Moon I found. Black faced dogs who don't like the camera are so hard to photograph!

You can catch some glimpse of Sierra on all fours. I love the way she wags her tail too. She has a nice tail!

Here is Sierra playing in the house with a toy, she does this all the time now and just plays happily all by herself!
