Tesla Hangin' In The Yard (First Full Day In Foster Care, Part 1)

With a full night's sleep after her big day of nothing but transitions, this was Tesla's first full day in foster care and we didn't have any plans but to hang out in the yard and let her settle in with us, our home, and our dogs(and cat:) . It was a beautiful spring day and it also happened to be Easter! It was really nice to just sit in the sun and watch the dogs goof off. If we could plan out a perfect day, this would have been it. Sun, dogs, birds singing, dogs...barking, sitting in the yard, dogs playing, a little weeding and lawn mowing, and did I say dogs running around entertaining us? Oh and at some point there were snacks, homemade vanilla ice cream, and a really good bottle of red wine.... like I said, it was a perfect day!

Tesla would love Skip to play with her, or at least give her some attention, but Skip is not a fan...yet.

And he tells her to back off, which she did! Good girl, way to listen to your elders.

Time for some games of fetching egg babies and balls.

Tesla is always interested in everything. What a great trait to have as a puppy girl.

Skip has his ball, "Blue", and Tim has his egg baby, while Telsa runs back and forth with them cheering them on.

Tesla loves to run when the other dogs run, she is pretty respectful too, doesn't crash into them, unless it is an accident.

She likes to follow Tim and see what he is sniffing.

Birdie says she will just sit next to mom and watch the shenanigans.

Really Tim is not yelling at Tesla. They were starting to play bitey face while they ran, but this shot is really funny!

I wonder if Tesla will ever get tired and take a nap? You will have to stay tuned because there is more that we did on this sunny day, and let's just say she is a puppy, a terrier puppy, and yes she has a lot of energy. :)

I Heart Tesla's Ears!

This lil girl has the cutest ears. They do all sorts of things and I am wondering if at some point they will be up and stay up, or if they will always have different p"earsonalities". Some of these look the same at first glance but I assure you each is different. See if you can find the differences!

Tesla Gets The Wiggles Out After Transport

Tesla was keyed up after her long transport from Central CA. How can you blame her? She was also not sure where the heck she landed, who we were, where her temp foster mom was that she had left just a couple days prior. She is just a puppy after all and this transition was a big one for such a young girl. She did some pacing and some whining. She wanted to play and the resident dogs weren't ready for that.

So after we all ate our dinner, I decided to grab the Kyjen Tail Teaser and see if I could help her decompress a bit by doing what ratties do best, chase, catch, and shake a fast moving toy! Well it worked and we had a blast together. I am sure this helped her to connect to me just a little and she could see I was going to be a fun and safe human to spend some time with.

What a photogenic girlie! Poor thing, you can see how tired she was in her eyes. But she still had that pent up puppy energy and she needed to decompress, mission accomplished!

Tesla is 1586!

Tesla is New Rattitude #1586 which means she is the 1586th dog to be rescued by New Rattitude!

Our latest foster girl has arrived and she has spent the day settling in. She is a delight and she didn't ruffle any feathers with the resident dogs. She has the longest legs and a sweet disposition. So far she is wary to be picked up and she hasn't jumped in a lap, or wanted pets. That is just fine, sometimes it just takes a little time. BUT she has taken a lot of treats from us, played with toys, sniffed every corner of the yard, and she ate all her dinner. We are happy to have her here safe and sound and to be part of her life until she finds the perfect fit forever home.

Tesla was very glad to stretch her legs after a very long transport from Central CA. Her eyes were a little weepy but she was in good spirits and with some high quality food in her belly, and a good night's sleep she will be all refreshed for her foster home adventure with our family.

Tesla Is On Her Way

We are happy to introduce our new little foster girl Tesla. We have taken a long break from fostering and I have been focusing my volunteer hours on my adoption coordination duties and boy oh boy have I been busy! We have had a landslide of applications a few times already this year which resulted in wonderful adoptions of rescued ratties. With a few foster parents needing a well deserved break my husband and I made the decision to add a foster to the mix here at home. We chose Tesla because we think her age 5-6 months, and her temperament, good with other dogs (and hopefully a cat) would be a good fit for us since having a 6th dog in the home can sometimes be a little much, lol.

She will arrive this Saturday, and I have a feeling she won't be here very long, as she is about the cutest thing this side of the Mississippi. We are hoping Tesla and Timken will strike up some playtime, and that our Skip will not be too ruffled with a foster dog in the house. So check in to see our new adventure in fostering.

Here is Tesla in her shelter photo before she was sprung by our NR angel Lynn who shelter surfs on a regular basis to find ratties in need, so glad this is all behind her now.

And here she is relaxing in a warm pot at her temp foster mom's place. This pot is very popular as another past NR foster dog was also caught napping in the very same position!

And who could resist this sweet face? Now do you believe me she is the cutest thing since sliced bread? But please remember, this is a young terrier, so although she is adorable she is going to need lots of mental and physical enrichment, so she will need an active home to be at her best!

Jenny, Skip, and Tim On a Thursday Morning Walk

We were in the mood to head out to the Snoqulamie Valley trail just outside of Duvall. We had been running some errands and only had three dogs with us, Jenny, Skip, and Tim. It was such a beautiful day and we needed to stretch our legs and the dogs were ready to get their wiggles out. When we pulled into the parking lot to one of the entrances to the trail we were pleasantly surprised to see there were no other cars parked, hunting season was done for a bit and so we had the chance to go off the main trail with the dogs and wouldn't have to worry about our safety. Luckily it wasn't too awfully muddy and the birds were chirping and grasses blowing. It was a glorious day for a walk before heading home and getting to work.

This is a really cool bridge. Months ago we had done this same walk and Tim would not go over the bridge, he did not like the slotted floor and who could blame him?

This time however Tim didn't seem phased by it, he is walking across like a champ just in front of Jenny on the right.

Midway Tim decided to see if Dave had any treats, and Skip thought that sounded like a good idea too.

Bald Eagle

This was a new beaver dam since the last time we were here. Someone has been busy!

A pair of geese getting ready to start nesting I presume. We will have to come back in a couple of months to see the new goslings.

Sweet Jenny, she is almost 15 years old from our estimations and she never misses a step on our walks. She loves to get out and about and seems to never tire.

I had brought one odor hide and so we practiced some nosework with the boys. I hid the odor in one of the many tufts of grass, after some quick deductions Skip was able to find it easily. He is a nosework rockstar!

Here Skip is being rewarding for finding the odor.

And back on the main trail Tim scouts up ahead. As you can see no one in sight, we had to whole place to our selves. What a fun little jaunt for all of us.
